Abstract

Introduction: ACS (Acute Coronary Syndrome) is one of the manifestations of cardiovascular disease that is the main cause of morbidity and mortality in the world. Physical activity is known as one of the modifiable risk factors in the prevention of cardiovascular disease. This study aims to determine the relationship between physical activity level and the prevalence of ACS.

Methods: This study uses an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The number of respondents was 39 people, consisting of 23 respondents with an ACS diagnosis and 16 non-ACS respondents. Physical activity levels were measured using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire–Short Form (IPAQ-SF) questionnaire and ACS status was determined based on medical diagnoses listed in medical records.

Results: The results of the Lambda analysis showed a symmetrical Lambda value of 0.175 with p = 0.279 (p > 0.05). In the analysis with the prevalence of ACS as a dependent variable, a Lambda value of 0.188 with p = 0.435 (p > 0.05) was obtained.

Conclusions: There was no significant association between physical activity level and the prevalence of Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS). Physical activity is not the dominant factor in determining the prevalence of ACS in the respondents of this study, considering that ACS is a multifactorial disease that is influenced by various other risk factors.
