Abstract

For every woman childbirth is a natural and normal process. However, if it is not properly managed, childbrith will become abnormal. The shorter second stage will obviously prevent maternal impact of prolonged labor. It can be suppressed by adjusting the position of childbrith. The purpose of this study was to determine differences of oblique position with half-sitting position of maternal on the second stage of acceleration. The design of this research was comparative research. The sampling technique used was accidental sampling that was done by chance. The data was collected using the observation sheet and informed concent. For statistical test, the data was processed by using Mann Whitney test with a significance level of 0.05.

The results showed that most respondents experienced acceleration in the second stage of labor, the mother who used inclined position were 4 respondents (50%) and half-sitting position were 7 respondents (87%). While the results of the test statistic obtained was the smallest U value of 15.5 and Utabel = 7, so the smallest U> Utabel, then H0 was accepted and Ha was rejected which meant that there was no difference in lateral position with maternal half-sitting on the second stage of acceleration. Looking at the results of this study, every health workers, especially midwives, should put more effort in helping childbrith so that labor does not take a long time. The second position is recommended or used in the second stage in the absence of differences in fetal or labor expenses.
