Gambaran Pengetahuan Masyarakat Dusun Mondoluko Desa Tamansuruh terhadap Penggunaan Obat Bebas dan Obat Bebas Terbatas

Abstract

The use of medicines is an integral part of maintaining health and supporting recovery. Adequate knowledge of over-the-counter and limited over-the-counter medicines is essential so community members can use medicines correctly, in accordance with the prescribed dose, indication, and directions for use, thereby avoiding the risk of medication errors. Limited public knowledge about medicines may lead to inappropriate treatment, therapeutic failure, and adverse effects that can, in turn, cause additional health problems. This study aimed to determine the level of knowledge among residents of Mondoluko Hamlet, Tamansuruh Village, regarding the use of over-the-counter and behind-the-counter medicines, by sex, age, educational background, and occupation. This research employed a descriptive, cross-sectional observational design, using a structured questionnaire as the data collection instrument and purposive sampling. The study involved 90 respondents who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results of the study showed that 48 respondents (53.3%) had sufficient knowledge, 39 (43.3%) had good knowledge, and 3 (3.3%) had poor knowledge. It can be concluded that the level of knowledge of the residents of Mondoluko Hamlet, Tamansuruh Village, regarding the use of over-the-counter and limited over-the-counter medicines falls within the moderate category.
