HUBUNGAN POLA ASUH ORANG TUA DENGAN ORAL HYGINE PADA ANAK USIA PRA SEKOLAH DI TK BUSTANUL ULUM WONGSOREJO KABUPATEN BANYUWANGI

Abstract

Dental health is a part of overall health. Dental health status can be identified from teeth and oral hygiene. Based on the initial data collection, it can be seen the low level of oral hygiene status in Bustanul UlumWongsorejo Kindergarten Class. Therefore, maintaining appropriate oral hygiene should begin on children at an early age. Parenting is one of the important factors in achieving good oral hygiene status. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between parenting pattern and oral hygiene status at Bustanul Ulum Nursery School in Wongsorejo District. The study design was analytic cross-sectional with 43 students (dependent variable) and 43 parents of the students (independent variables). Data collection methods used were examining dental and oral hygiene status and distributing questionnaires to students’ mothers. The data analysis technique used was Spearman’s Rank test and it was presented in the form of scoring and tabulating with SPSS 20 for windows. After doing the tabulation, the data was analyzed using Spearman’S Rank test. It was obtained a value of 0.225> 0.05. Thus, Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. It can be concluded that there was no correlation between parenting Pattern and oral hygiene on pre-school aged children at Bustanul Ulum nursery school, Wongsorejo District, Banyuwangi Regency in 2018. The result of this study is expected can develop insight, experience, and ability in conducting research, especially the research related to parenting on oral hygiene in pre-school children. The results of this study can be a consideration and the next research should look for other factors that greatly influence oral hygiene.
