PENGARUH PEMBERIAN AROMA TERAPI LAVENDER TERHADAP TINGKAT NYERI HAID (DISMENORE PRIMER) DI ASRAMA PUTRI STIKES BANYUWANGI TAHUN 2020

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is pain-accompanying menstruation, which can interfere with the activities of daily life. One of the non-pharmacological treatments for dysmenorrhea is giving lavender aromatherapy. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of lavender aromatherapy on the level of menstrual pain (primary dysmenorrhea) at Female Dormitory in STIkes Banyuwangi in 2020. The research design used was pre-experimental with one group pre and post-test. The sample in this study were all residents of female dormitory in STIKes Banyuwangi who experienced primary dysmenorrhea which were 33 respondents which were determined using total sampling technique. Data were collected using a checklist sheet then were analyzed using Wilcoxon test with a significant level of 0.05. Based on the results of the study, before given the lavender aromatherapy treatment, 19 respondents (58%) had moderate dysmenorrhea, and after the treatment, 19 respondents (58%) had mild dysmenorrhea. From the calculation of SPSS 24 for Windows with Wilcoxon test, the value of Asymp.Sig. (2tailed) = 0,000 <α 0.05. Thus, Ho was rejected, which means that there was an effect of lavender aromatherapy on the level of menstrual pain (primary dysmenorrhea). Lavender aromatherapy is effective to reduce the level of menstrual pain (primary dysmenorrhea). It is easy, simple, and can be done anywhere and by anyone. Needing a furnace, matches, candles, lavender liquid, and warm water, it is advisable for people with dysmenorrhea to inhale the aroma therapy vapor so that the pain scale during menstruation can be reduced or even disappeared.
