Abstract
School children are the nation’s investment and becoming the successor cadres of development. To be able to reach great achievement, a child must be able to concentrate in learning.The enhancement of learning concentration can be achieved in various ways, one of them is by having breakfast. Many children do not do any breakfast, they prefer to consume snacks outside the house or in school in which their nutrition qualities can not be guaranteed. It will be a problem for all children, especially for elementary school students. However, this problem becomes more complicated for the deaf students at Extraordinary Elementary School (SDLB). The deafness has encouraged them to seek any compensation. Eyes as senses of sight are the main alternative for them. With all their disabilities, they need to know the importance of breakfast which will lead them to have responsibility for the growth of healthy body, to be smart and to reach great achievement. So that nutritional education about the importance of breakfast is badly needed for them. In order that the implementation of nutritional education can be right on target and achieve the goal, the right/appropriate methods are needed, one of them can be done by using picture as a media.
This research provided a model of learning by using picture as a media to deliver message about the importance of breakfast for deaf students at Banyuwangi Extraordinary Elementary School. The purposes of this research are to identify the children’s breakfast behavior before and after given nutritional education and to analyze nutrition on deaf students’ breakfast behavior at Banyuwangi Extraordinary Elementary School. The final result of this research is getting data information about breakfast behavior of deaf students at Banyuwangi Extraordinary Elementary School before given an intervention, there are 10 respondents (87%) with good category and 2 respondents (17%) with average category. And after given an intervention there are 12 respondents (100%) with good category. The result of analyzing the effect of nutritional education on deaf students’ breakfast behavior at Banyuwangi Extraordinary Elementary School is p count 0.102 with significance level 0.05. 0.102 is higher than 0.05. So Ho is accepted and Ha is rejected. There is no effect of nutritional education on healthy breakfast behavior for students at Banyuwangi Extraordinary Elementary School in 2017.
