HUBUNGAN POLA MAKAN DENGAN KADAR ASAM URAT PADA LANSIA DI WILAYAH KERJA PUSKESMAS BAJULMATI KABUPATEN BANYUWANGI

Abstract

Poor diet in the elderly by consuming high protein foods containing high purines will increase uric acid levels in the blood nevertheless it can be prevented by a low purine diet. If the diet is not changed, it will cause the accumulation of uric acid crystals so that the elderly will experience severe and sudden attacks of pain. The purpose of this study was to find out the correlation between diet and uric acid levels in the elderly in the working area of Bajulmati Health Center, Banyuwangi in 2022. This research was quantitative (analytic) with a cross-sectional design by using total sampling technique, the sample was 33 respondents. The instrument of the data collection used a diet questionnaire sheet and an observation sheet for uric acid levels. Data were analyzed using SPSS 22 for Windows application with Chi-Square test. The results showed that most diet in the poor category (51.5%%) and almost all the elderly in the working area of the Bajulmati Health Center, Banyuwangi had high levels of uric acid (90.9%). After statistical analysis, the p-value is 0.01, which means Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, so it can be concluded that there is a correlation between diet and uric acid levels in the elderly in the working area of the Bajulmati Health Center, Banyuwangi in 2022. Thus, it is recommended for the elderly to regulate and maintain a good diet through a low-purine diet, reduce consumption of purine-sourced foods such as offal, duck meat, chicken liver, and beans that can trigger an increase in uric acid levels in the blood and check with the doctor in the nearest health service center regularly.
