GANGGUAN MENTAL EMOSIONAL PADA REMAJA AKIBAT KECANDUAN GADGET
Abstract
Mental emotional disorders are emotional changes that occur in an individual, if it is not immediately handled properly it turns into a pathological state. This study aimed to determine the correlation between gadget addiction level and mental emotional disorders level in adolescents’ class VIII students at SMP Negeri 4 Banyuwangi. The method used was a cross sectional with 66 respondents taken by purposive sampling technique. Data collection used a gadget addiction questionnaire (Favorable, Unfavorable) and mental emotional disorder SRQ (Self Reporting Questionnaire). The statistical test used was a Rank Spearman with SPSS for windows software with a = 0,05. The results showed that adolescents with gadget addiction were in the moderate category as many as 33 respondents (50.0%) and mental emotional disorders in the low category were 30 respondents (45.5%). The significance value of Rank Spearman with mental emotional disorders in adolescent class VIII students at SMP Negeri 4 Banyuwangi p value 0,02 < 0,05, which means that the correlation was 1.00. The Correlation Coefficient value was positive with a very strong relationship. From the research results, adolescents can control gadget addiction in order to prevent emotional mental disorders. Parents can provide supervision and limitations for their children in using gadgets to prevent emotional mental disorders.
